Welcome to the Tippecanoe County Surveyor's Office.
Your county surveyor is a constitutional officer of the county and is elected to a four-year term from the county at large. Please take a look around and enjoy your visit. Let us know if we can answer any questions.
The Surveyor's Office:
- Oversees all section corners throughout the county
- Reviews and inspects all new residential, commercial and industrial developments for compliance with the County Stormwater Ordinance
- Supervises construction, reconstruction and maintenance of county drains and ditches

Responsibilities to the Public
The obligation of the Surveyor's Office to the people of this county is addressed in Indiana Code, Title 36, Article 2, Chapter 12, Sections 1-15 (IC 36-2-12). The County Surveyor's Office does not conduct individual private land surveys. The following is an outline of the responsibilities centered around and within our office.
Drainage
- Gets involved Department of Natural Resources
- Develops drainage studies and specifications for all drains as needed
- Ex officio member of the County Drainage Board, as required by state law
- Investigates alleged drainage obstructions petitioned for removal by property owners, as required by state law
- Manages the construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of all county regulated (legal) drains for the County Drainage Board, as required by state law
- Supervises investments of the Regulated Drain Assessments
- Maintains Tippecanoe County Regulated Drain Map
Phase II Stormwater Program
- Participate in the Federal Stormwater Program
- Manage and Coordinate Clean Water Act required by the U.S. EPA to establish the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting program

- Digital map of the Section Corner monuments and reference sheets (dossier)
- GIS Policy Committee, President
- Mapping of County Regulated drains, watersheds and GPS locations of the county tile network
Planning
- Member of the County Subdivision Review Committee, the County Zoning Ordinance Review Committee
- Reviews all "Plats of Subdivision" of county land in accordance with the County Drainage Ordinance
