Park Rules

Park Regulations
In order that all Tippecanoe County Park areas may be enjoyed to the fullest extent by the members of the community, the following rules and regulations have been adopted by the Tippecanoe County Park and Recreation Board.
  • All motorized vehicles should remain on park roads, do not drive on turf areas. Speed limit 10 mph.
  • Park areas are areas that have been set aside for their particular outdoor recreational value. This includes the trees and wildflowers within the park. Do not pick flowers or cause damage to trees, shrubs or turf.
  • Some facilities within the park system are available for reservation. For information contact the Park Department Office at 765-463-2306.
  • Since park areas are for the enjoyment of all visitors, we ask that the use of sound amplifiers or other loud activities are restricted and that they only be used after permission has been granted from the park manager.
  • Camping is permitted at the Ross Camp campground only. Please call the Park Department Office (765-463-2306) for information.
  • Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on Tippecanoe County Park Department owned and operated properties. The exception is Ross Camp and the Tippecanoe County Amphitheater. Restrictions apply; the Park Department Office must be contacted to provide information and procedures at 765-463-2306.
  • Horses are prohibited on county park property unless given permission by the park manager.
  • Bows and arrows of any description are prohibited on park property unless they are a part of an approved committee or board program. No hunting.
  • Dogs and other pets should be on a leash. Please clean up after your pet.
  • We ask that all patrons of the parks conduct themselves in a polite manner. Offensive conduct (e.g. language, actions, etc.) will not be tolerated. Park personnel reserve the right to ask patrons to leave a property if their conduct is deemed to be dangerous or offensive to other park visitors.
  • Hours: The grounds will generally be open to the public from dawn until dark (figured at approximately 1 hour after sunrise and sunset) 7 days a week. A seasonal adjustment of hours may be necessary, and some properties may close at the discretion of the park manger due to weather or security conditions.
  • Boat ramps are available for use at any time the park grounds are open.
  • Parking is permitted in designated areas only. No vehicles are permitted on the turf except for approved special events, or for maintenance.
  • Fires: Please build fires only in designated fire rings or grills. Do not dump hot ashes on grass, plants or in trash barrels. You must bring your own firewood.
  • Swimming is prohibited except in guarded areas.
  • The Wabash Heritage Trail is for hiking, cross-country skiing, and jogging. No horses, motorized vehicles (except maintenance vehicles) or bicycles are permitted on the earthen tread way. Use violates a Class A misdemeanor. The penalty for the commission is up to 1-year imprisonment and a fine up to $5,000.
  • Commercial and political advertising along with any form of solicitation activity is prohibited on park department owned and managed property.
  • The use of metal detectors is strictly prohibited at the Tippecanoe Battlefield, Fort Ouiatenon, Ross Hills and Ross Camp properties.
  • No smoking in any buildings as per Tippecanoe County ordinance.
  • Do not use thumbtacks, pushpins, staples, etc. on picnic tables. Absolutely no nails, screws, staples or other fasteners may be driven into the wood of the picnic shelters. Tape is the only allowable fastening material to be used on picnic tables and shelters. Violation can result in compensation for damages.
