Arriving at the Courthouse

             Make sure that your case is being heard at the Tippecanoe County Courthouse.  Only case numbers that start with “79C” or “79D” are heard at the Tippecanoe County Courthouse.   West Lafayette City Court meets in West Lafayette City Hall and US Federal Court meeting the Halleck Building at the corner of 4th and Ferry Street in Downtown Lafayette.  All bankruptcies are handled in Federal Court.

 

             The Tippecanoe County Courthouse is located at 301 Main Street.  There is only one public entrance and it is located on the ground floor on the Columbia Street side.  The building is wheelchair accessible.

 

             On-street parking in Downtown Lafayette is very limited and most spaces are limited to two hours.  The parking service is very diligent about giving tickets, so if you exceed the two hour limit, you will likely receive a parking ticket.

              There are two parking garages in downtown Lafayette that are convenient to the Courthouse.  The Tippecanoe County Parking Garage entrance is on Columbia street between 3rd and 2nd Streets.  Do not park in a reserved space.  Parking in this garage is free for the first 30 minutes;  fifty cents for the next 30 minutes.  After the first hour, it costs $1 per hour with a maximum of $10 per day.

 

             The entrance to the City of Lafayette garage is on 5th Street between South and Columbia.  Parking in this garage cost $1.50 each hour for the first two hours.  The third hour costs $3 and each hour after the third is $1.   The maximum per day is $11.
