The Tippecanoe County Health Department participates in the county-wide Health and Medical Emergency Support Function-8 (ESF-8) Group that was established by the department in 2013.
Group Intention
The ESF-8 Group, becoming better known as the Health and Medical Coalition, is co-chaired by a representative from the health department, hospitals, and EMS. The intent of the Health and Medical Coalition is to prioritize health and medical planning and improve coordination between all participating organizations. Participation in the coalition involves a wide variety of organizations throughout the public sector (local, district, state, and federal), private sector and community sector.
During and public health or other all-hazards emergencies that present public health and medical implications, the coalition will provide support to the ESF-8 when the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is activated.
